Lorraine Goris Klamer Memorial Nursing Scholarship
This scholarship is established through the estate of Dr. Bernard Klamer ’50 and Lorraine Goris Klamer ’50. Lorraine was a graduate of the Calvin/Blodgett nursing program and spent many years working as a nurse at both Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI and Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, MI. In later life, she worked with nursing students in Racine, Wisconsin and as an advocate through the Arthritis Foundation, as a strong and positive influence regarding Rheumatoid Arthritis which she had most of her adult life. She never let her disease get in the way, and loved and cared for others in every way she could until ALS took her life at the age of 59. Through the direction of her son Craig Klamer and his wife Janet, and her daughter Lynn Klamer Morrow and her husband John, this scholarship honors the life and legacy of Lorraine Goris Klamer and encourages a Calvin student who is called to use his or her vocation as an act of Christian service in the field of nursing.
