Laurie Ellen Mervenne Scholarship for Women in Businesss

When Laurie Mervenne attended Calvin College, there were very few women students pursuing careers in the field of business. Trained as a stock broker, Laurie moved up the ranks from Kelly Girl to sales representative at Hudson’s Department Store into a management position at Mervenne Beverage, a distributing company that her father started from the ground up many years earlier. Through the establishment of this scholarship, Laurie wishes to encourage bright young women not only to go into the field of private or public business, but to seek leadership positions in those businesses and corporations as well by “dreaming big and thinking out of the box.”
