Laurence Feenstra Family
Dr. Laurence Feenstra along with his sons, Richard and David, and their families, established this scholarship, which brings together their deep love and respect for Calvin College and the University of Michigan Medical School. All three graduated from Calvin College and U of M Medical School.
As a physician, Larry was dedicated to patients and to medical education. He influenced and inspired numerous young doctors and medical students, including his sons. Through his medical career he exhibited genuine compassion for his patients, sharing God’s love with many needy hearts. He also stimulated students and physicians with his dedication and emphasis on excellence.
This scholarship will enable Calvin to offer a full-ride scholarship to a student in the pre-medicine program, who will then be eligible for an interview at the University of Michigan Medical School. This partnership, designed to benefit both institutions, will prepare Calvin students for success in medical school and their future medical career.
Each academic year, one first-time undergraduate student will be offered this prestigious opportunity through a highly competitive process including a thorough evaluation of their current academic abilities and career aspirations within the medical field.
