John C. Heerspink Family

The family of John Heerspink, ’66, has established this scholarship in his memory. In keeping with the philanthropic and service example set by his parents, much of John’s career and volunteerism were directed to non-profit agencies, including many years in planned giving leadership at both regional and national levels. With this scholarship, John’s family acknowledges a student who has a heart for service and who feels a calling to a career in a 501©3 organization or an NGO or who has a goal of graduate education in non-profit administration or philanthropy studies. Students who have successfully participated in the Comenius Scholars program and whose experience in that program has confirmed career aspirations in the non-profit sector are especially encouraged to apply. (This scholarship is not intended for a student who plans to provide client services in a non-profit setting such as classroom teaching, ministry, medicine or social work.)
