John and Mary Gideon Family Scholarship

This scholarship was established by John and Mary Gideon to thank God for the blessings He has given them. John and Mary worked in public education for a combined total of over sixty years. John worked as a Learning Disabilities Specialist and Mary as an elementary school teacher. Both have advanced degrees in Special Education and Learning Disabilities. It is their belief that children with disabilities need Christian teachers who can show compassion and understanding in addition to imparting academic and life skills. Their daughter, Mary Beth and son-in-law, Jeffrey Steiginga are both Calvin graduates who received a wonderful education. This scholarship is an expression of gratitude for material blessings and for the education Calvin has provided to their family. Candidates are committed Christians entering their junior or senior year at Calvin who are pursuing a degree in Special Education
