James and Catherine Haveman
In appreciation for what Calvin has done in the past and the impact that Calvin will continue to have in the future, the James and Catherine Haveman Family has established this scholarship fund to assist students who have financial need to obtain a Christian college education.
James K. Haveman, Sr. was a noted Grand Rapids architect, recognized for his design of many Grand Rapids and Western Michigan area churches and schools. Mr. Haveman was one of the three architects involved in developing the buildings of Calvin’s Knollcrest campus according to the master plan. Mrs. Catherine Haveman, class of 1928, was an elementary education teacher for several years. Their three children all attended Calvin and some of their grandchildren are graduates. The scholarship guidelines reflect many of the family’s career choices.
