Herbert and Doris Vander Mey

Herbert and Doris Vander Mey are long-time residents of Grand Rapids where, since 1944, Herbert served in management and executive capacities with the Michigan Wheel Corporation. He was President of the corporation from 1971 until his retirement in 1986. The Vander Meys are members of the LaGrave Avenue Christian Reformed Church and have always been active in community affairs. Their personal Christian commitments lead them to the conviction that Christian leadership is needed in all areas of human endeavor.
Partially because of Mr. Vander Mey’s long tenure in corporate management, the Vander Meys have a keen interest in promoting creative approaches to meeting management needs in a changing global society with an increasingly worldwide and free market. Thus, they are interested in supporting Christian students who demonstrate creativity and enthusiasm for meeting the changing management needs of an international and global economic order. The faculty of the Department of Economics and Business are asked to identify students worthy of an award based upon such an interest.
