Henry Van Andel Family

Mrs. Dorothea Vergeer has established this scholarship in memory of her father, Henry J.G. Van Andel, professor of Dutch language, literature and culture at Calvin from 1915-1950. Professor Van Andel became especially beloved for his course in Dutch and Flemish painting. Many of his students began with him a life-long journey of enjoyment in fine arts. It is Mrs. Vergeer’s hope that this scholarship will provide encouragement to young Calvin students who wish to pursue studies in art.
