Bernard Klamer Memorial Chemistry Scholarship
This scholarship is established through the estate of Dr. Bernard Klamer ‘50 and Lorraine Goris Klamer ’50. After Dr. Klamer graduated from Calvin College he went on to earn his PhD in Biochemistry at Michigan State University. His research career spanned the worlds of biology and chemistry, first with Parke-Davis Pharmaceuticals in Ann Arbor, then with the Institute of Pathology in Amsterdam, and then for many years in pharmaceutical research with Abbott Laboratories, where he was based out of Waukegan, IL. His last two decades involved clinical drug trials in many countries around the globe. Through the direction of his son Craig Klamer and his wife Janet, and his daughter Lynn Klamer Morrow and her husband John, this scholarship honors Bernard’s faithful Christian witness, his dedication to the art and science of chemistry research, and his deep respect for Calvin College.
